 | This guide will help you learn how to configure Date and Time setting for the Apatar application and DataMaps, if necessary. |
1.Module Description
1.1 Description

The module allows you to set the date and time format that is convenient for them. This allowed Apatar to simplify the process of filtering, validating etc. data by date and/or time. You will not need to know the exact format of date/time as it's stored in you database. Instead, if there's a need to validate data by date, you will enter the date in the format that is default for your instance of the application.
1.2 Sample Use Case

We are joining date from 2 different data sources that store date and time in different formats and then validate this data by date and write into different instances of MS SQL. In Greater Than function we can just enter the date in the format that is set as default for the application.

1.3 First Time Installation
When you install Apatar for the first time, the date and time format for Apatar is taken from your default system date and time settings.
In case the format is different from the options included in Apatar, date and time is displayed in 'Default application date and time settings' and 'Date and time sample' (eg., 24 ????? 2008 11:21:17). In 'Current application date and time settings', the fields that don't have corresponding format option/s are left empty; the drop down menu is active. (eg.,Date format - empty, Date separator - empty, Time format - hh:mm:ss, Time standard - 24 hrs).
2. Configuration Window:

3. Configuration Window Elements Specification:
• Default application date and time settings: - shows current date and time in the format that you set as default. Date and time is separated by 'space'. (eg., 3/21/08 14:45:57 15)
• Current application date and time settings: - displays settings currently used in a DataMap; gives you an option to change default application settings
• Date format: - sets date format.
• Date separator: - sets the symbol that should be used to separate day, month, and year.
• Time format: - sets time format.
• Time standard: - sets if the time should be displayed in 24 hours or AM/PM format.
• Date and time sample: - shows how the date and time will be displayed considering your custom settings. In case format for both date and time formats are set, date and time is separated by 'space'. (eg., 03/21/2008 2:45:57 PM)
• Reset to System Settings - clicking this button you will change your date and time settings to the settings used by your system. Eg., system settings are MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss, default application settings are M/d/yy h:mm:ss tt; clicking the button will set the settings to MM/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss
• Save as Default Application Settings - you should click this button if you selected to use DataMap's date and time settings while working with this datamap (see 4. Warnings and Notifications) and want to save these setting as default settings for your application; or if you made some changes to the date and time format and would like to save these changes as default application settings.
4. Warnings and Notifications:
When you receive and open a DataMap which has date and time settings different from your default application settings, you receive the following warning:

Clicking Yes will activate DataMap's date and times settings for the time while you are working with this DataMap. The date and time format are displayed at File>Options>Date and Time:

Clicking No will discard the DataMap settings. Default application date and time format will be used to work with the DataMap. In this case you will need to change the date and time format in functions (if dates are used in functions).
In case the DataMap contains date and time in the formation that Apatar doesn't have options for, it should work as described in point 1.3 First Time Installation
5. Hints and Ideas:
If you changed the date and time format using the drop downs or if you clicked Reset to System Settings, clicking OK will save these settings for the current DataMap that you are working with. If you close Apatar, open a saved DataMap, or create a new DataMap from File>New or File>New RSS Feed, the settings will be discarded.
If you want to set these settings as default settings for the application, click "Save as Default Application Settings" first and then click OK.
