This guide will help you learn hot to read and write data from/to Microsoft Access database (.mdb files).

Linux Users

Please note that if you are using this connector on a Linux machine, you need to have ODBC driver installed.

Access 2007 Users

Please note that MS Access 2007 does not support multivalued fields in queries: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/HA101492971033.aspx. One should keep that in mind choosing the key for the Update mode.

Configuration

It is highly recommended that MS Access data sources are closed before reading from, or especially writing to them.

To start working with MS Access tables,

  1. Drag-and-drop MS Access connector to Apatar's work panel.

  2. Double-click on the connector. Property window will pop up.
  3. Fill in the configuration details (database file name, user name, and password).

  4. Click Next.
  5. The list of MS Access tables occurs. Make a selection and choose a table you would like to extract data from or write data to.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the mode in which the transformation should run. (Click here to read about the difference between the modes.) If you select the Update mode, please also select the field(s) from the list that should be used as primary keys to define if a record already exists in the data target.
Make sure you map the fields selected as primary keys to input fields in an operation connecting your data source and data target.
  8. Click Finish.

If necessary, you can preview the data entries. To do so, right-click on the connector and choose "Preview Results".
