Sorry we've never tested Apatar on 64 bit system and could not tell you if Apatar can run there.

Yep!
First make sure you have the right version of Java JRE. My Apatar install grabbed the latest 1.6 which it's apparently not compatible with. So you'll have to uninstall that and delete the java app directory.
When java installs on Windows 64bit, I've yet to have it correctly place the java path in the PATH environment variable.
Right click on My Computer, choose Properties, then Advanced Properties, then at the bottom click on "Environment Variables".
Under the System Variables section, scroll down till you find PATH. Edit that and add the correct path to the end of the line. Mine looks like...
<lots of stuff>...\;\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_18\bin
But, note that Apatar is not supporting 64bit so were on our own for making it work. At least your java will work. |

well, I tried what you suggested and well that would not work
Our Environment:
Windows 2008 R2 64bit Server
Test 1: Installed Apatar to default folder, uninstalled Java 1.6, dl'ed JRE 1.5 installed, changed path - Ran application.bat as Admin - rebooted server
same error - Cannot find 'javaw'
Test 2: Unistalled Apatar, re-installed to c:\program files\ , checked path for Java - rebooted server
same error Cannot find 'javaw'
Very odd - |

Hi Sergei,
Apatar is finding the wrong version.
More than likely you have several copies of javaw on your system. Java Update doesn't replace old versions, and several apps install their own. Apatar is finding the first one in the PATH environment variable.
Using Explorer you can search for "javaw" on your C: and if you have multiple ones, it will list the directories where their at, but you might not be able to delete them, depending on other applications relying on their particular version.
So, delete the ones you can and that will simplify it. Boldly deleting all of them comes highly recommended but then you have to check and clean up other apps.
Installing the JRE and adding the directory to the begining of the PATH might do the trick without deleting the others, but it's iffy. Any new patch might change it.
java -version
Will tell you which version is found first.
Hope that helps you out.

Just resolved another Windows 7 installation issue. I thought it might be useful so posing the description here.
System: 64bit Windows 7, UAC enabled
First there was an error like 'Cannot find javaw'
Check on java version from command line but the system didn't seem to see Java at all. Adjusting the path didn't help. So we just uninstalled the java that was there (in C:\Program Files (x86)\), downloaded the newest java from www.java.com (decided to try 64bit java) and installed it to C:\Program Files\ (this is the default folder Java installer proposed). Now the PC could see java ok
BUT
it was throwing 'Can't start application. Only one instance allowed'. All we did is we just uninstalled Apatar from C:\Program Files (x86)\Apatar and installed it to C:\Apatar directly (unchecked 'Java installer' at the first installer screen) _________________
